a hanging shark mobile with swimming sharks made from bamboo.
Step 1) For this project a flat long oval is needed, this is created using the insert button. Once the oval is shaped to my liking a half moon C shape is brought in from the Shape list. this piece is then placed on the top of the newly made oval with a slight overlap. The combine feature is used to unite the 2 pieces together. You end up with a UFO looking object.
Step 2) Now a second oval of the same size and shape is created the same way the first one was made. This oval and the first oval will receive cut outs the same width as the bamboo itself and as long as half the height of each oval. An opening on the top and an opening on the bottom. This is done by creating small rectangles sized to the needed size and placed in the middle of both ovals. I want to remove this section from each oval so the combine feature is use and the subtract button is chosen. this allows each piece in criss-cross fashion to be joined together when ready.
Step 3) Now we need a place for the thread to go through, I selected very small 1mm holes made with the insert button and the circle. These are placed along the bottom of each oval equally spaced. The settings were set for these holes as as follows.
Step 4) Now the sharks are needed, So these are in an SVG file format so they can be cut, I grabbed them from my computer and placed them in the work area. After sizing them I also added the same thread holes on each shark for assembly later. Then it was on to putting it together. Once everything was cut the 2 ovals were put together and the sharks were added with thread with the help of each of the holes. then it was on to hanging the mobile. With the sharks at different angles it give the feeling they are swimming in the water.
